This limestone old-new house, open again for Sustainable House Day this year, is more sustainable than current regulations dictate thanks to the use of natural and recycled materials.
One of the standout elements is the unusual roof, which owner Greg O’Byrne wanted to act like a beanie in winter and an umbrella in summer. It boasts a series of vents and fans that enable it to be closed down in winter to keep heat in, and opened up in summer to vent warm air out.
